Pregnancy Safe Services at Infinity MedSpa

Navigating the skincare world can be confusing and just when you feel like you’ve figured things out, there you are staring at a positive pregnancy test wondering if any of your skincare is safe to use anymore.

Speaking to your doctor or dermatologist about this is always a good idea! But in the mean time; we’ve compiled a list of services you can book without having to doubt their safety, and a list of products to avoid while you are pregnant and breastfeeding.

A list of skincare to avoid:

  • Salicylic Acid- Aspirin and Salicylic Acid are sourced from the same plant, and taken orally in high doses has been shown to cause birth defects. So in this case it’s better to take caution and let your body’s natural exfoliation process take the reins.
  • Hydroquinine- It may be tempting to treat hormonal pigment that appears during pregnancy, but we can treat it just as well after your baby safely arrives
  • Any and all forms of vitamin A have been shown to be detrimental to a fetus’s development, including:
    • Tretinoin
    • retinol
    • retinoic acid

Now here’s a list of services that are safe to receive while pregnant:

  • Custom facial: This is always tailored to you and your specific needs. Let us know you’re pregnant and then relax and unwind while we customize your treatment to make sure you get the best care while in the treatment room.
  • Hydrafacial: If you want deep exfoliation and painless extractions from hormonal breakouts, this is the treatment for you. We will exclude the gentle chemical peel that is normally part of our protocol and the rest is all about manually exfoliating and hydrating your skin in a way that’s perfectly safe for you and your baby.
  • Dermaplaning: The removal of extra dead skin and fine vellous hair with a sterile surgical blade enhances your pregnancy glow without any use of potentially harmful chemicals.
  • Facial waxing: If you find yourself with some unwanted extra hair growth caused by changing hormones, a quick facial wax will help to remove that hair and potentially thin it out over time with repeated treatments.
  • Brow + Lash tinting: The use of a semi-permanent dye to embolden the color of the eyebrows and lashes is 100% safe after your first trimester and makes the eye area pop even if you’ve been missing an hour or two of sleep here and there.
  • Brow Laminating + Eyelash Lifting: The gentle formula used in clinic to laminate the brows and lift the lashes is long lasting to give you the most time between treatments. It creates the look of an open eye and gives you a “no makeup- makeup look” that will have you telling people “I just woke up like this.”
  • Oxygen treatment: This treatment leaves you glowing with a fresh and clean complexion that oxygenates your skin to promote collagen production, speeds up cellular turnover, and nourishes the skin.

Our Providers are happy to help you navigate through your pregnancy and breast feeding journey!
