Potenza RF Microneedling: Pre and Post Care Instructions

How can I prepare for my Potenza Radio Frequency Microneedling appointment?

• Stop using retinol products 5-7 days before treatment.
• Avoid alcohol consumption 48 hours prior to your treatment.
• Avoid sun exposure at least 1 week prior to your Potenza treatment.
• Discontinue usage of scrubs, chemical exfoliants, and exfoliating tools 3 to 5 days prior.
• Disclose to your treatment provider if you have metal in your body before treatment.

What are my post care instructions? What should I expect post Potenza treatment?

• You will feel a warm/sunburn-like sensation for about an hour post treatment.
• For cleansing the treated area, use a very mild, soothing cleanser. Do not scrub or exfoliate the treated area.
• Refrain from applying makeup for 24 hours. Use clean makeup brushes. Mineral makeup is best for post-treatment healing.
• Do not use any additional skincare products during the first 24 hours following your treatment, unless advised by your provider.
• Do not exercise or increase your heart rate 24 to 48 hours post treatment.
• Avoid exposing the treated area to excessive heat – saunas, hot tubs, hot yoga, etc.
• Avoid all sun exposure for up to three days post treatment. Wear a hat and SPF.
• Avoid alcohol consumption if possible for 24 to 48 hours.
• Refrain from deep exfoliation and/or retinol products for 7 to 10 days post treatment.
• If redness after treatment persists, use an ice pack or cool compress at home; always use a protective barrier, such as a face cloth, between the skin and the ice pack.
• Before touching your face or applying facial products, be sure to wash your hands well: there are micro-pathways opened into the dermis and hands will introduce bacteria.
• If you currently have skin breakouts, you may find the condition may temporarily worsen due to inflammation or edema (swelling).
• Do not pick at treated tissue, doing so may result in hyper- or hypopigmentation.
• Results can be seen 3-4 weeks after Potenza RF Microneedling treatment is completed.

What are the expected side effects of a Potenza microneedling treatment?

• Erythema (redness) may occur after a Potenza treatment, can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
• Tissue may be swollen for a few hours up to several days.
• Pinpoint bleeding on the surface of the skin can be expected with deeper treatments. Bleeding is temporary and is typically resolved by the end of the patient’s visit.
• Treated tissue may heal with small areas of micro crusting or scabbing.
• Burning sensation: patients may feel uncomfortable while receiving Potenza treatment.
• Temporarily tingling is possible and typically resolves within 48 hours.
