CoolPeel Laser Treatment: Pre and Post Care
How can I prepare for my CoolPeel appointment?
You must stay out of the sun for at least 2 weeks. Cannot be treated with a sunburn, fresh tan or someone who is planning to be in the sun.
Cannot be treated with sunless tanning products on skin. Discontinue use 2 weeks prior to treatment.
Cannot use antibiotics 2-3 weeks prior to treatment.
If you are using any photosensitive medications, please consult with your treatment provider before booking a CoolPeel treatment.
Stop using retinol products 5-7 days before your treatment.
Discuss with treatment provider about post treatment products.
What are my post care instructions? What should I expect post CoolPeel treatment?
You will feel a warm/sunburn-like sensation for about an hour post treatment.
Only apply post treatment skincare that was given or directed by your treatment provider.
Sleep with a clean pillow case and your head slightly elevated (to help with potential swelling).
Avoid sun exposure, intense workouts, excessive heat, hot showers, hot tubs and saunas for at least 48 hours.
Avoid excessive touching of the treated area.
Your skin will feel rough like sandpaper for 4-7 days post treatment.
An approved SPF must be worn daily along with a hat, if outside for a long period of time.
Mineral makeup can be applied 24-48 hours post treatment.
An approved cooling spray may be used for comfort, if needed.
You can return to your normal skincare routine 2 weeks post treatment. Consult with your treatment provider if you have any questions.
CoolPeel can be repeated on a monthly basis until desired results are achieved.
Can I wear makeup post CoolPeel treatment?
We recommend to leave your skin without any makeup for at least 24 hours after your CoolPeel treatment. You can then use mineral makeup to ensure you maintain clear pores, allowing your skin to breathe and heal properly.
Is there downtime with the CoolPeel laser?
One of the main benefits of a CoolPeel treatment is that there is minimal downtime. You should expect to be red, as if you have a sunburn, for a few days. You may have swelling of the treated area for a couple days, but this varies per person depending on how reactive your skin is. However, nothing should prevent you from returning to your normal day-to-day activities. Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals, so it is important to keep the skin moisturized.
