Pain
The Icon laser has a chilled tip, but there is mild discomfort when the laser is activated. Multiple applications of the laser across the entire skin service are done and in some cases a second pass is done. Cold air can be blown on the face during treatment to alleviate any discomfort. A cold pack can also be applied immediately after treatment to comfort your skin.
Downtime
Your face will be pink after your treatment and some patients experience mild to moderate swelling. Ice packs can be applied, and pink or red color goes away in a few hours or overnight. More aggressive & deeper non-ablative Icon Skin Resurfacing treatments can cause pinkness and skin peeling that can last 2 or 3 days.
When will I see results?
Understand that the benefits of non-ablative fractional erbium laser resurfacing take time as new collagen production does not begin until 6 weeks and goes on for at least 6 months after the last treatment. Although many patients will see a positive change within a few days, due to the swelling effect from the treatment, optimal results usually occur after 2 to 3 months. This allows for complete healing and replacement of new collagen and elastin.
