Botox and Dysport: Pre and Post Care Instructions
THE BEST WAY TO CARE FOR YOUR AMAZING RESULTS!
How can I prepare for my Botox or Dysport appointment?
You may want to avoid supplements and medications that thin the blood (NSAIDs like Advil, fish oil, turmeric, etc. unless otherwise indicated by your doctor) and alcohol for 2-3 days prior to your appointment. Never stop a medication prescribed to you without consulting the person who prescribed it.
Come in with a clean, make-up free face. We recommend making sure you’ve eaten before your appointment and hydrate throughout the day - it helps with the nerves and excitement!
The side effects of botox are minimal, but treatment always comes with a risk for bruising or localized swelling - in case it happens, make sure you have a 2 week window were you won’t be upset if anyone saw you with a bruise.
It take 2 weeks for full effect to take place, plan accordingly. If being treated before a big event, we recommend being treated 4 weeks prior to allow room for adjustments after the first 2 weeks.
Is there anything I should avoid after my Botox or Dysport appointment?
You want to keep your face as clean as possible for 24 hours after your appointment - no makeup, dirty phone screens, used pillowcases, etc.
Avoid anything heat-based for 24 hours after your appointment - no working out, excessive sun exposure, infrared saunas, hot tubs, etc.
Stay upright for 4 hours post injections.
Do not apply pressure to the treated areas, including massaging or hat wearing for at least 24 hours.
Immediate redness, localized swelling may last for 30 minutes to several hours.
Bruising is possible and may last up to 2 to 3 weeks. Arnica gel or oral supplement can help minimize longevity of a bruise.
Please allow your injections 2 to 3 weeks to settle. Muscles may respond asymmetrically as it begins working. Follow ups can be made after 2 week, but no greater than 3 weeks from initial injection.
Please allow 2 weeks before receiving other esthetic treatments such as facials, laser and microneedling.
